DESCRIPTION: Herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by inflammation of the brain (encephalitis). Herpes simplex encephalitis is caused by a virus known as herpes simplex virus (HSV). Herpes simplex encephalitis occurs at any age, to either sex and at any time of year. HSE must be distinguished from herpes simplex meningitis, which usually is caused by HSV-2 and occurs in association with a concurrent herpetic genital infection. Like other forms of viral meningitis, it usually follows a benign course and is not discussed in this article.
SYNONYMS: Herpes Encephalitis, HSE, Herpetic Brainstem Encephalitis. Herpetic Meningoencephalitis
Common symptoms include: Headaches, Fevers, Drowsiness, Hyperactivity, General weakness
The disorder may have some symptoms similar to those associated with meningitis, such as a stiff neck, altered reflexes, confusion, and/or speech abnormalities. Skin lesions usually are not found in association with herpes simplex encephalitis.
HERBAL TREATMENT: Herbal treatment designed to control infection and slow disease progression, improve symptoms, correct imbalance and adjust immune system, prevent and treat later disease and/or complications, reduce mortality rate, improve the prognosis, and most importantly, to restore function.
The purpose of herbal treatment is not to take the place of necessary orthodox medical treatment. Combination of the both is a better choice.
